Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is the percentage of the coffee beverage that is actual dissolved coffee solids rather than pure water. Ideal drip coffee strength is 1.15% to 1.45%.

The specialty coffee standard defines the ideal extraction yield as 18% to 22% of the dry coffee coffee bean mass being dissolved into the cup.
